The 2010 Ford Fusion is Making Waves
When Ford ceased production of the outdated Taurus a few years ago, they had to scramble to fill the void inthe mid sized car arena.People are really starting to notice the new Hybrid power plant modification in the Fusion. Ford officially released the Fusion Hybrid recently at the Los Angeles Auto Show late in 2008. What makes this Ford so special is the excellent in-town gas mileage that the hybrid can get.Beating out the Toyota Camry by a large margin, and the economical Civic Hybrid by a hair; the Fusion Hybird is ranked at 41 MPG in town driving.Without the gas engine, the Fusion can drive up to 47 MPH on just the electric motor alone.It has been written about and this system has been used by many to get better MPG than the EPA says are possible.
By using new technology, the Fusion can help drivers know which driving style recieves the best fuel economy.The Smart Gauge is a set of gauges built into the display.There are two displays on each side of the gauge cluster that show various hybrid info.The 1st display tells the power left in the battery packs and the remaining amount of fuel. The second data screen adds an electric vehicle mode indicator and RPM Tach.The 3rd monitor shows motor and batter power.Finally, the last screen shows data in power to the wheels and additional power consumption.Knowledge centers in the Fusion have data that consists of Miles Per Gallon, fuel efficiency report, travel chart, and changes in radiator temperatures.To inform the driver which driving style is the best for fuel economy, a real time MPG information gauge is available.
The nav screen shows the Hybrid Energy Flow data. This display will track the 5 modes of the Fusion’s Hybrid Powertrain which are the; electric drive, hybrid drive, electric boost, idle charging, and regenerative breaking.
The For Fusion is unique among other hybrids in that recycled yarns were used to make the seats, another eco modification first.Tired of watching Toyota and Honda benifit off new hybrid vehicles, Ford decided to add a new hybrid vehicle to their line-up that will apeal to the masses.
